The Sound and Story Project is about our Hudson Valley community and depends on hearing from you about the stories to be shared and the sounds that define our region.
Share a Story Whether you are a long time resident or a recent arrival, we all have stories about life in the Hudson Valley. Maybe you have just restored a Dutch barn or stone house. Perhaps you remember dances at the old grange or a local ghost story. We would like to hear it.
Suggest someone to interview Your grandmother, your next door neighbor or the owner of the local gas station – we all know a good story teller when we hear them. Let us know who it is and we will get them on the map.
Adopt a Sound The Hudson Valley is filled with signature sounds that make our place special. Do you have one you think we should capture? See our Membership page for how you can get your personal recording of the sound you adopt.
Share a family recording Maybe you were rumaging through the attic and found some old cassette recordings of your grandmother telling about farm life in the Hudson Valley. We would love to take a listen.
Start a Sound and Story Project in your community Our goal is to have many distinct community voices coming together to make up the whole of the Hudson Valley. There are many ways a community can join our project. Maybe you would like to podcast audio tours from our website, to live events featuring local musicians and long-time residents regaling us with their own stories, create an "Adopt a Local Sound" project, or 800 number that offers a menu of local lore and sounds.
