Ice Boating on the Hudson

This StoryScape Hudson Valley radio program was recorded by Jim Metzner on January 31, 2009 while riding on the Vixen with Reid Bielenberg. 6.5 minutes

While most of us are hoping for an early spring, members of the Hudson River Ice Yacht Club are praying the weather is cold enough for the  Hudson to freeze. Then they will take their boats out of storage and transport them to whatever part of the river they have determined is safe for sailing. On January 31, 2009 the river by Athens was the place to be.
